Shaw's Bend Rodeo Practice

We passed Shaw's Bend just outside the park entrance and had to come back and check it out.   Glad we did.

And what an interesting Social Club.

This is one of many buck's heads gawking at patrons.   Today that was only Bill and me, but it was early.

Today's special, $1 buck Lone Star brew.
John the bartender was friendly and shared the history of Shaw's Bend.  Something about a curve in the road. 😋

A morsel of information that in fact was a gem was the bull bucking on Sunday at 2 p.m.  So the whole gang took off for bargain beer prices and entertainment.

And we waited, and had a second beer.  Then another beer.

Hee Haw, Ride'em Cowboy. The practice today was not just for the cowboy but a test for the bulls to see if they're rodeo worthy.  The bulls we saw today were 3 year olds.  The earliest you can ride a bull because of their developing bone strength.

This young cowboy lasted about 2 seconds, at most.

This same bull got more pissed off at each buck.  Notice the cinch around their gut.  I can tell you it's tight.  The bucking is as much about getting the cinch off as getting the cowboy off.

This young cowboy did manage to scramble out of the bull's path but it didn't look good for a few seconds.

GET OFF MY BACK I SAID!

What a fun way to waste an afternoon, with friends and a lot of bull.

Thanks for visiting and that's no bull.

Susan
