Royal Gorge Bridge, Canon, Colorado

At Haggards RV park, just west of Pueblo West.  Antelope out in the fields surrounding the park.  It's a PA park, full hookups, 50 amp, $15.50 a night.  Host Nancy is a gem.  So is Misty.  A very sweet horse.

 Misty
Spacious scenery in every direction.

Large sites, good power. Highly recommend this park.

The next morning we were off to the Royal Gorge.

Everything you see from this point on in this posting has been rebuilt since a fire in 2013 completely destroyed the park and grounds. Burned everything to the ground.

Except for the bridge.

Actually 100 bridge boards burned and were replaced.

Want your knees and feet to quiver?  This will do it.  Magnificent views.

Look hard.  You can see the river below between the bridge planks.

The kid in all of us came out as we scampered joyfully onto the carousel horses backs.

Exhausted(😉), we headed towards the gondolas and zipline.  We opted for the gondola return but were thrilled to watch the youngsters zip over our heads.  My zipline adventure will be through a canopy of trees.

Brave young things racing towards the edge.  The river below is almost a 1000 foot drop.

And our ride arrives

There they go over the gorge.

Sitting waiting for the launch.

WOW. What more can you say. Totally uninterrupted view in all directions.

The bridge in the distance.

We waited at the other side for the next zipliner.   Notice the coiling spring above the rider.  There's a very sudden stop as the rider's harness slide plows into the spring.   You can see how the riders feet fly up over his head.  Very exciting.

And another wondeful day of adventure.

Big cold front moving in tonight.  Snow forecast.  We'll be boot scooting out of Colorado by 7 a.m.  Sure hope that will be early enough.

See you at the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival in a couple of days.

Susan
